Our Core Values

Our Core Values

The Capability Project is guided by five core values: follow-through, meaning support continues until progress becomes action; capability-focused support, emphasizing what individuals can achieve with proper guidance; lived experience leadership, relying on peer mentors who bring credibility and trust from real-life experience; partnership, not duplication, strengthening existing organizations rather than replacing them; and integrity and accountability, ensuring transparency, ethical responsibility, and measurable outcomes for the communities served.

Our Team

Maurice Bonner
Founder & Chief Executive Officer, Director

Maurice Bonner is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Director of The Capability Project, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening communities through capability-focused peer support, follow-through guidance, and trusted resource networks. A retired U.S. Army Signal Corps officer, Maurice brings more than two decades of executive leadership experience in operational command, cybersecurity governance, strategic planning, and large-scale program management. Throughout his military career he led complex teams, managed mission-critical infrastructure, and oversaw multimillion-dollar operations supporting national defense and global communications systems.

After retiring from military service, Maurice continued his commitment to leadership development as a Senior Army Instructor in the Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC), mentoring young people and helping them develop discipline, leadership, and civic responsibility. He founded The Capability Project after recognizing a common gap across education, workforce, veteran, and justice-adjacent systems: many individuals receive instructions or referrals but lack the real-world guidance and follow-through needed to execute successfully. Maurice’s leadership philosophy centers on capability-building, mentorship, and practical problem solving, helping individuals move from potential to measurable progress. Maurice’s Bio (1)
